Would you like to know how many times a student has accessed your Delivery Space this semester or who has accessed your digital lecture recordings in ReVU? Perhaps you would like to send out an automated e-mail to students who have not accessed your space in the last week? User Progress, Intelligent Agents and ReVU can help you to keep track of the students’ progress throughout the semester. Read the common questions below.

How can I view a student’s online activity in my VU Collaborate Space?

View student's progress based on login, content accessed, assessment submission or discussion activity.

How can I change the view so I can see activity in the last 7 days or 30 days?

Filter the user progress data by date in the top right hand corner after clicking on User Progress. You can display data from the last 7 days, 30 days or All Time

What are Intelligent Agents?

Intelligent Agents can be used to send automated e-mails to you or your students based on certain criteria such as logins, grades or viewing specific content. An example of this might be receiving an e-mail that says Student A has not accessed your Space in the last 14 days. For information on creating and managing Intelligent Agents, please view this guide. When creating the Intelligent Agent e-mail insert your e-mail address in the BCC field so you know exactly which student has met the conditions.

How can I personalise the intelligent agent e-mail?

If you want to personalise the intelligent agent e-mail, use strings. Strings are easy ways of automatically adding student or unit information from the system without manually inserting the information yourself. An example of this would be instead of saying ‘Dear Student’, you could say ‘Dear John’ by putting in the e-mail message Dear {InitiatingUserFirstName}. To view the strings available view this guide (step 6).

How do I know if an intelligent agent is running?

When creating intelligent agents, make sure you select the Agent Is Enabled checkbox so it’s actively running. Secondly, ensure you define a schedule when creating Intelligent Agents; this enables the system to search for any students that match the conditions you specified.

How can I manually run intelligent agents?

You can manually run intelligent agents instead of using a schedule by clicking on the intelligent agent dropdown menu and select Run Now.

How can I view statistics in ReVU?

If you have ReVU lecture recordings in your Space, use the powerful analytics capabilities to track who has accessed your recordings and for how long. Please this guide on Viewing ReVU Statistics and Reports for further information.
