Customising Questions in Quiz Tools

This guide is about adding optional elements and customizing the questions for Quizzes in your Question Library. Different types of questions have different options that can be added to customise and enhance questions in your quizzes. 

 

Step One: Create a Quiz Question


To use customised options in a quiz, select and create one of the questions below:

1. From the question details, select Options to access a list of customised options.

2. Select your desired options.

Add Feedback

Add Feedback

You can provide students with feedback, support resources, and positive messages on why an answer was correct or incorrect and also provide overall question feedback.

  • (a) Select 'Add Feedback' from the Options list.
  • Provide feedback under each answer's choices (b) or in the Overall Feedback field (c)

Add Hint

Add Hint

You have the option to provide a hint to help students select the correct answer. This description is visible to all.

  • (a) Select 'Add Hint' from the Options list.
  • (b) Provide a hint in the newly added field.

Add Short Description

Add Short Description

You have the option to add a description text to the question which will not be visible to the students. This description is to provide extra information about the question for academics.

Add Enumeration

Select Add Enumeration if you wish the answer choices to be preceded by enumerations. 

Then, select your preferred style from Enumeration drop-down list.

Add Custom Weights (Multi-Choice)

Custom Weights

For questions with multiple choices, you can give students partial marks for partially correct answers.

  • (a) Select 'Add Custom Weights' from the Options list.
  • (b) Then, provide the percentage to be granted per answer.

3. Additional options for Written Response (Long Answer) question types:

Add Answer Key

Add Answer Key

You can provide Answer Key for evaluators to use a standard answer. The provided text will not be visible to students at any stage.

  • (a) Select 'Add Answer Key' from the Options list.
  • (b) Provide the exemplar answer in the newly added field.

Add Initial Text

Add Initial Text

You can provide Initial Text as additional instructions or a template (table) for the students to fill in their responses.

  • (a) Select 'Add Initial Text' from the Options list.
  • (b) Provide the initial text in the newly added field.

On the student's view, the Initial Text will appear within their answer box.

4. To remove any unwanted options, select Remove... from the Options list.

Step Three: Preview and Save Your Question


When complete select one of the save options

  • Save and New – save the question, then create a new True/False question
  • Save and Copy – save the question, then create a copy of the current questions
  • Save – save the question and return to the question library, quiz or survey
