Creating a Fill in the Blanks Question
Fill in the Blanks (FIB) questions require respondents to fill in one or more missing words to complete sentences.
Here are the steps to create a fill in the blanks question:

Access a Question Library, Quiz or Survey
Questions can be created in a Question Library, Quiz or Survey. For a Quiz it is recommended to first create question in the Question Library, then import them into the Quiz. For additional information see the following guides, then return to take the next step:

Step One: Add a New Fill in the Blanks Question
1. Click New and select Fill in the Blanks Question (FIB) from the dropdown menu.
This will open up a new Fill in the Blanks Question.
Step Two: Enter Question Details and Save
1. Fill in general details such as:
- Title: is used for searching or later importing into a quiz.
- Assign Points for the fill in the blanks task.
- Optional: Choose a Difficulty level from the dropdown list or choose to Insert an Image to upload an image to accompany your question.
2. Enter your question details
- (a) Enter Question Text #1
- Enter Blank #1 details including (b) Answer, and (c) assign Weight, then select (d) Evaluation option.
- Each Weight (%) contributes to the whole fill blanks task. For example, if there are two blanks in a question, you can assign 50% each.
3. To add possible or alternative answers in each blank, select +Add Answer. Then enter alternative answers in the answer boxes (1) and (2).
4. Select +Add Blank to add an additional blank, while +Add Text to add more text box.
5 (Optional). You can provide students with hints to help them answer the question, and enter feedback to show students after they have completed the question. To do so, select Expand question hint or Expand question feedback.
6. When complete select one of the save options
- Save – save the question and return to the question library, quiz or survey
- Preview - view how the question will be displayed to students
- Save and New – save the question, then create a new fill the blanks question
- Save and Copy – save the question, then create a copy of the current questions
